Pricing
Fixed rates. Documented scope. No hidden fees. Pricing is per-device, per-month. Costs that are not in the agreed scope document are not charged without a written change request.
Business Managed Services
All pricing is in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and excludes hardware unless otherwise agreed in the scope document.
Managed Workstation

- Applies to both fixed desktops and portable workstations
- Includes: baseline hardening, patch management, EDR deployment, remote monitoring, helpdesk access, and change-controlled management
- Hardware is provided by HawkData; does not include third-party licensing or out-of-scope configuration work
Managed Server

- HPe-branded server hardware provided and installed by HawkData for on-site deployments
- Physical server installations require a client-supplied telecom rack on-site; HawkData handles rack mounting and cable management
- Includes: OS-level hardening, patch management, remote monitoring, backup configuration, and change-controlled management
- Hardware is provided by HawkData; does not include OS licensing where applicable or application-layer support outside agreed scope
Installation and Onboarding Fee (Business Clients)
An onboarding and installation fee applies to all new business engagements. This covers the structured discovery, scoping, deployment, and documentation phases. The fee reflects the actual cost of structured onboarding, security baseline implementation, and documentation — work that cannot be deferred without compromising the quality of ongoing management. All equipment required for the engagement is provided by HawkData.
Short-Term Commitments (< 5 years)
$6,000
One-time installation fee. Non-negotiable. Covers equipment provisioning and delivery by HawkData, system deployment, configuration, security hardening, and professional labor.
Long-Term Commitments (5+ years)
Waived
For clients entering a long-term service commitment of five years or more, the installation fee is waived. Onboarding and deployment costs are absorbed as part of the engagement.
Office Environment Baseline Capabilities
The following represents what a typical managed office environment includes at steady state. Final scope is confirmed during onboarding and documented before work begins.
* Some services may still require an annual fee for support from the software developer.
Mandatory Baseline vs. Optional Services
The mandatory baseline applies to all business managed-service plans and cannot be removed.
Mandatory Baseline Package
- Identity and asset management
- Password manager
- Remote management and monitoring
- Endpoint detection and response (EDR)
- Open Source Office Suite (LibreOffice)
- VPN access and management
- Secure email (SPF, DMARC and DKIM)
Optional Services (Charged Separately)
- Web and application hosting
- Project-based work and migrations
- Additional security layers (Private Key Infrastructure)
- Advanced team collaboration functionality
- Multi-function device provision and hosting
Optional services are discussed during onboarding and documented clearly before implementation.
MSP Evaluation Checklist
Use this when comparing providers. A credible MSP should answer all of these in writing before you sign anything.
Transparency & Scope
- Is pricing clear (per-user/per-device), with minimums and inclusions documented?
- Are "included vs. optional" items listed, with change control for scope creep?
- Will you receive documentation (network diagram, inventory, admin access boundaries)?
- Are third-party annual support costs disclosed upfront?
Security & Operations
- Do they enforce least privilege and identity controls?
- Is there defined patching cadence and a maintenance window policy?
- Are backups tested, and are RPO/RTO targets discussed?
- Do they provide monitoring, alerting, and an escalation path?
Hawkdata's approach is documented on the Compliancepage.
Third-Party Costs
Some components of a managed environment require ongoing fees paid directly to third-party vendors — for example, commercial EDR licensing, cloud backup storage, or proprietary software support contracts. These costs are identified during scoping, disclosed in writing before the engagement begins, and not marked up by HawkData unless we are acting as the reseller — in which case the markup is disclosed. Pricing for HawkData's managed services is published. If your request falls outside this model, a written quote is provided before work begins.
